Deck 84 Brings Home 1st Place Title of the 6th Annual Boca Burger Battle 2017

On a hot July day in downtown Boca Raton, our Deck 84 team started gearing up for a night full of grilling, fun & competition at the 6th Annual Boca Burger Battle! This was our second year participating in the event which benefits the PROPEL Foundation (People Reaching Out to Provide Education and Leadership.) Last year, our majorly tasty burger won 2nd place and this year we had one thing on our mind… to win 1st Place! Executive Chef Jon Greening & his team had been perfecting our contending burger for weeks to ensure it would out-shine the competition.

This year’s battle contenders came from all over South Florida and raised the bar of burger competition. Boca Raton featured M.E.A.T. Eatery & Taproom, Shake Shack, Sybarite Pig, Yard House, Black Rose Irish Pub, Flashback American Kitchen & Bar and Junior’s Cheesecake. Boynton Beach featured Josie’s Ristorante. Coral Springs featured Metro Diner and their Fort Lauderdale location. Deerfield Beach featured Tucker Duke’s Lunchbox and their Boca location. Delray Beach featured Deck 84, ROK:BRGR, Burger & Beer Joint, Beer Trade Co. and their Boca location. Fort Lauderdale featured Tap 42 and their Boca location.

Executive Chef Jon Greening and his team persevered through the heat (over 90 degrees outside!) and served up the tastiest burger of the entire night. Out of all of the talented burger competitors, Deck 84 took home the 1st Place title for 2017! The award-winning burger started with a Brisket Blend burger, Smoked Chile Cheddar, Bacon & Onion Marmalade, Smokey Aioli and Dill Pickles on a lightly grilled Potato Bun. The crowd raved about the Bacon & Onion Marmalade as it added a layer of flavor that battle-goers loved!

We would like to thank the judges and to all of those who came to the event and supported Deck 84!
